I am not a Bachelor 3 or a Master student, can I still sign up?

In general, it is still possible for you to register to participate on the Olympiad.
However, the likelihood of being selected is lower, especially when applying individually.
If you still wish to participate, we recommend you find some upperclassmen to form a team with.

What is the level of difficulty of the questions?


As it can be deduced from the name, the Olympiad is meant to test the brightest economics students in the Netherlands.
As a result, the questions are exam-type, Bachelor 3 or higher-level.

How can I prepare for NEO?

In principle, it is not possible to prepare for any certain type of question, as the authors of the questions differ every year by field and topic.
The only key to success is the knowledge of and the ability to apply general economic topics from various fields.

What documents do I have to carry?

You should only carry some sort of a proof of identity with you (ID/passport/driving license/student card with a picture)

What is the deadline for the registration?

The deadline for registration is March 1st, 2020 at 11.59pm.

Can I be a single participant or do I need to be in a team?

You can register as a single participant, however, team registrations are preferred.

What is the acceptance criteria? Are there exceptions made?

Students of economics in their 3rd year or master are preferred. However, anyone with an interest in economics can apply (granted your chance of being accepted is lower.

How long will the whole event take?

The event lasts all day, from approximately 9.30am to 7.30pm.

Is there a mode of transport provided?

No, the participants have to provide their own mode of transportation
